Is the Monster as guilty as VF in simply assuming that anything VF creates will love him? he wants free will, but does he allow his potential bride any?

That's true, but I don't really blame the guy...He's completly alone in the world...I think we'd all be a little selfish...
No, he does not allow his bride to have any freewill, but being created from dead people in itself lacks the characteristics of "freewill". I think the Monster should give the woman an option; if she likes him they can get married, but if not, then just let it be.
I agree with Chase. They call him a monster but I think has just as much human traits as we all do and because of this he just wants to be loved like the rest of us and he just wants a friend. I think that Frankenstein makes him to be more of a monster than what he really is, and I think that wha he is is more of a caring soul that doesn't know what the hell is going on....
Yeah but what happens if Victor creates the woman and she doesn't like the monster. What if she ends up rebeling out of anger and kills someone. then Victor will be in more trouble than he already is. then she will be alone and the cycle will just keep going because they will both still be lonely
Why would she not want to be with him? She would also want a companion and he would be the only other person who wouldn't hate her. Besides, she would be immediately told that they were supposed to be together like an arranged marriage.
Niether the monster or the monsters bride have any freewill. Like Nathan said, being created from dead people lacks the characteristics of freewill. The monster just expects his bride to want to be with him but things dont work out that way. If she finds the monster repulsive and doesnt want anything to do with him , then whats goin to happen? Will the monster go crazy and kill his bride?
You cant make someone like you. If the she monster doesn't like the the man monster then they are screwed and Victor will probably get blamed, and perhaps the she monster might have a lesbian personality.
The monster is definitely as guilty as VF with that assumption. If he wants free will, he has to understand that the bride will probably be the same way. As for allowing his potential bride to have any free will, he's not if he assumes she will just marry him.
dcrat, so you are saying everyone in an arranged marriage is shallow? Would it actually be "shallow" for someone to want at least a friend who is like them? What if you had been taught from birth that you would marry someone and going against that was bad? what is the difference here?
What if the monster's companion ends up being stronger than the original monster...hahaha...that sucks...no man wants his wife to be stronger than himself...and a woman monster..thats a lot of emotion to deal with.
the monster is not allowing the bride any free will and while she may not love him, who's to say that she won't? he is thinking hopefully. i understand that she may not love him and he is giving her no choice, but the monster loves Victor, and Victor found him repulsive.

Maybe she won't be good enough for him?
this is also a possibility. there is a good chance that he will find her repulsive. then what happens.
Or maybe shes a dyke...

Maybe she thinks she can do better...I mean not everyone is shallow Gerald...
