All this time we have been reading about the "monster", but who really is the monster? Didn't Victor create this mess? Do you think the author made this reference on purpose?
i think that victor is maybe not a monster but a very self absorbed guy. he only made the monster for selfish reasons and the monster is alone because victor abandoned him and doesn't want to take responsibility for his actions. i think the author did this to make the reader think twice about things.
I agree. Victor is the one to blame for what he created. Its not the monsters fault. Im sure he would have chosen to not made rather than be made by dead human body parts.
I agree completely with Chandra. Also, sublimitally Victor is the metaphorical monster because he really doesn't really have any redeeming qualities, and he's a total dick to "the monster." He created this mess, and he has to deal with it.
This is a hard question for me to answer. I think that Frankenstein technically isn't a "monster" he is just a very VERY interested and experimental scientist. He thought that he would be able to do something that may be better for the world but yet he just made something that has ruined his life and could possibly be a life long journey now. You could call him a monster but I just think he was a very curious scientist who didn't think about all the bad things that could go wrong.
Victor is the real monster. Look at all the deaths that have been a product of his creation. Physically Victor's creation looks like a monster, but really without the hands and works of Victor the monster would have never been able to do the things he did. Victor is the source of the monster.
Victor is not a "monster", but he is very narcissistic. He created something out of pure ambition and was not ready for the repercussions. The only reason the Monster is alone in the world is because Victor couldn't handle it, and he left him to fend for himself. The author did this to show how bad it could possibly turn out if someone tries to tamper with nature.

i also do not think that Victor is a monster, but he is the reason that so many people died, because if he would not have created the monster then his brother and Justine would not be dead...

I am looking forward to sharing Shelly's novel, Frankenstein, with you through this blog. While blogging is fun and creative, please show respect for you classmates' opinions. Bad behavior will result in a written assignment equal to numerous blogging sessions, so do not create any monsters of your own!

I will be reading your posts, but I may or may not choose to participate.

This "Monster" could be more of a reflection of Victors self image...
Like a projection of creator to createe thing.

Thank you guy... I think you caught my drift. The two are much in the same, and yet different. Somewhat of a foil.
